A slow start to the North Norfolk autumn season so far with many anglers returning from pleasure sessions with nothing to show for their efforts, with the recent blowups we have had fishing did improve slightly with Bass being reported at Salthouse and other N.Norfolk venues but no great numbers. Our match at Salthouse this week was always going to be a struggle with a flat calm sea and summer like conditions, our expectations were not high.

Most of the members went off to the left over the shingle bank with John " Silverfox" Neave and Sam "The Hat" Attew deciding on the right hand side.

As the match progressed I managed a small flounder at 17cm too small to register but that was closely followed by a good Dab of 25cm which meant i could relax as the blank was saved, and at that point it seemed no one else was catching, this proved to be a white lie as Simon "The Tactician" Farrow had already managed a fish but had told his daughters not to say anything when he sent them to find out what everyone else was catching, obviousley this was "Tactics" and did manage to get him a second spot after his first place was renched away from him by Tony "Yoda" Thomas with a solitary sizeable Bass at 1lb 3 2/3oz proving once again why he is the man to beat, throughout the match Tony had been targetting schoolie Bass close to the gulley in the hope to find one big enough to measure, this was rewarded close to the end and proved to be the winning fish.

Out of the 11 who did fish only 4 managed not to blank, and it was Sherry "Giz a Fag" Murray who secured 4th place with her one Dab.

All in all it was a hard struggle and the only consolation was the nice weather, lets hope the fish start appearing in greater numbers in the coming weeks.

Next weekend is the Orford Trip and that has been producing whiting, and codling but it can be hit and miss, let hope its a hit for us…
