Holt SAC Sabre Tackle Charity Open 2015 (Report 2)

Sunday 6th September 2015 - Kelling

After a week of uncertainty with the weather conditions the Sabre Tackle Charity match went ahead at our reserve venue of Kelling. To be honest the weather had been quite horrendous all week leading up to the 6th and I think we all had constant eyes on the always changing weather charts like Magic Seaweed and the Met office but they did agree on that the Wind was going to decrease on the morning and on into the day which is exactly what it did do to the delight of the eager 40 Anglers that attended.

Full Breakfasts were being served and thoroughly enjoyed together with Teas/Coffees while the draw was taking place in the Muckleborough Cafe from 9am. Getting towards the start time everyone hiked off to their pegs to set up (thanks Henry and Jake for pegging).  The whistle blew and the first cast's were made. Surprisingly the leads were holding out very well even with Huge waves crashing onto the shingle, most probably due to it being a much smaller tide than the previous few days.

It didn't take too long before Flounders and even a few Dabs Surprisingly were being landed pretty much along the whole stretch of beach. A few Bass were dropped as it was hard work landing them in such swell especially if they were lip hooked but a few nice ones were landed including a Super one at 64cm! All in all out of 40 Anglers there were 381 fish carded for a total weight of 133lb 8oz. This included 231 Dabs, 133 flounders, 12 bass, 4 whiting & 1 pout!
