Holt SAC and Sabre Tackle 2015 Wednesday Evening Match 3 (Report 2)

Wednesday 23rd September - Overstrand

Our Sabre Tackle and Holt Wednesday evening match four was at Overstrand pegged out from the East end Westwards. Fishing over low water there were high hopes for a few bass. With a number of members on holiday and over in Ireland it was a smaller turnout than normal but nine eager Anglers turned out for our first match at Overstrand. Some had never fished here before and were a little apprehensive about the possibilies of snags and weed but it wasnt very snaggy at all where we pegged ;) Having set up and collected the pegs from the promenade it was time to begin.

The Starting whistle was blown at the usual time of 7pm and the match was off ... Almost straight away a few dabs were landed along the stretch. Some pulled in weed but this was close in so keeping the rods up high helped greatly ... On peg 1 David (New Flattie Man) Lake began well bringing in a few Dabs up to 29cm. On peg 2 Christian (Tiddler Basher) Bulch was picking out the Dabs but his stinky blacks could only find the small ones. Next on peg 3 Jake (Stinky Car) Cooper managed to wangle out a nice number of Flatties plus a nice plump Ting at 31cm. Next along on peg 4 Shane (Coming on Strong) Scarff had some nice Flatties including a 30cm Flounder.

On the next peg 5 Pete (Mr Consistent) Simmons managed a good mixture of dabs, Flounders and Tings. On along on peg 6 Tom (Off duty) Gibbs pulled out mostly dabs but had a Ting at 24cm. Over the Breakwater on peg 7 Charlie (Mini Bass) Needham was loving  this new venue managing four different species. On peg 8 Simon (Cast to the Horizon) Buttery was in great form almost filling one side of his card up. Lastly on peg 10 and just over the other side of the breakwater and having a beach to himself was Billy (Slug King) Temple with a Ting, a few dabs and one of those Slimy Slippery Slug things (a sign of cooler weather on the way maybe)?

It was a shame that no Bass were there apart from Charlies 18cm Monster but thats fishing. It was great fun though with a good number of fish carded and it's always great to try out different venues and I think we will definitely come here again ... On to the results and in third place this week was Jake Cooper with 14 fish for 4lb 2oz, in Second place was Simon Buttery with 19 fish for 4lb 12oz and in First place and for the second week in a row was Pete Simmons with 18 fish for 5lb 4oz ... Biggest flat went to Pete Simmons (32cm Flounder) dnd Biggest round went to Jake Cooper (31cm Whiting) and also the lucky peg!

A Great Match again with great people...Our next venue on the 7th of October is to be decided over this next week ... Dont forget HoltSAC have the third Winter Cups and Open Match at Cley this coming Sunday which is for the Pairs Sheild which should be great fun ...Thanks again and Tights Lines!
